We are recruiting for our Early Development Unit in Harrogate and are currently seeking to hire a Trainee Technical Specialist to help support the Immunology & Immunotoxicology team. This is a full time and permanent contract. 


    Job overview

    The job incumbent performs a specialized scientific and technical role in new and re validation of clinical and non-clinical assay method developments in the department of Immunology and Immunotoxicology Services. This requires a significant understanding of the science, technical assay development and regulatory framework such assays have to be conducted within. The role requires extensive liaison directly with clients subject matter experts, NSA study directors, business development executives and programme management to establish clear up front parameters. The role then extended to close teamwork with the direct line management structure, existing managers, SMEs and project managers to ensure the delivery and transfer of a high quality method development process.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Trainee Technical Specialist will perform or assist in the following tasks:

    • To ensure that their line manager and study director are kept fully updated on the technical and financial progress of their developments.
    • To be aware of appropriate regulation guidelines for PD, PK TK etc.
    • To have good verbal, numerical and visual skills.
    • To help foster a high professional standard and encourage good staff relationships.
    • To undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be allocated from time to time by line manager.
    • To participate in the introduction of new techniques, methodologies and relevant procedures in collaboration with other Senior Managers.
    • To co-operate fully with other senior staff (SMEs) to ensure the quality and scientific standards of the analytical service are maintained.
    • To participate in any assessment and subsequent action required due to enforced method changes by the manufacturer.
    • Client liaison as to method validation etc in a supporting role to peers.
    • To ensure a clear understanding of Analytical Procedures and Working Documents

    Education / Qualifications

    • Minimum level of education required is a Biomedical science degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. However experience can be substituted for qualifications.


    • 1-2 years of experience in scientific writing, method development, validation in Immunology and Immunotoxicology filed
    • The post-holder should be a competent scientist, able to employ the full range of techniques and instrumentation applicable to Immunology and Immunotoxicology Services
    • Excellent scientific knowledge of analytical techniques
    • Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required
