    Sr. Lean Six Sigma Business Transformation Manager

     

    Covance Chemistry Solution is undergoing a transformation with the aim of increasing the digital and agile maturity of the business. Our goal is to deliver a best-in-class technology platform for our laboratories and then to enable the adoption of the platform by the users and enhance the whole product development capability. We need a Lean/Agile evangelist, this candidate must come from a strong Lean Six Sigma delivery background, it's all about the mindset and culture and creating a servant leader environment. This position will require an experienced Lean Six Sigma leader with a strong process background, that is able to facilitate and drive change in a fast-paced growth focused environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal skills. The Lean Six Sigma Digital Transformation Leader will lead site and cross-functional continuous improvement projects aligned with the Global Operations Strategic Objectives. 

    This is a key leadership position to support our Lean Six Sigma Operational Excellence program, supporting improvement initiatives, reporting directly to the head Business Transformation. The role is responsible for building and managing a team of greenbelts and engaging a community of change leaders that are tasked with guiding the business through wide scale process re-engineering primarily using Lean Management methodologies.

    Key to success in this position is the ability to work within the organization at all levels and within all functions, creating value and buy-in as the lead change facilitator for the Lean Six Sigma transformation.

    This is a full time position, based either in Harrogate or York, North Yorkshire, UK, in Madison, WI or in Indianapolis, IN, USA office.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Conducting E2E process diagnosis to identify improvement opportunities across the business. 
    • Lean Business partner for Line and Senior Management. Providing guidance and support to ensure effective and robust processes that deliver On-time, On Quality, On-Cost improvements for Client projects and services. 
    • Project managing the lean six sigma improvement projects using DMAIC, DMADV and other transformation methodologies. This should include identifying the problem, defining the project objectives, managing project delivery and validating and reporting benefits.
    • Delivery across all assigned projects, including risk, issue management, and providing input into staffing/capacity planning.
    • Working with technical and operational teams to ensure technology delivered is operable, suits stakeholder needs, and can be effectively monitored in production.
    • Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness.
    • Promote an ethos of staff empowerment enabling team members to be accountable and responsible for their own actions and decisions.
    • Lead, and guide greenbelts to lead, continuous improvement projects across the Operations utilizing a variety of Operational Excellence Principles.
    • Support and mentor Greenbelts and other change champions across the business to ensure activities deliver target benefits on time and on budget. 
    • Delivering training to Green Belts as required – ensuring knowledge transfer.
    • Ensure effective stakeholder management to deliver and maintain effective improvement project sponsorship.
    • Acting as a change agent - build and deliver the change management strategy to ensure support and buy-in for improvement projects.
    • Effectively engage with other Improvement Leaders to ensure the consistency of approach across all improvement initiatives. 
    • Support the head of Business Transformation to develop and embed a Lean Management System across the broader business.
    • Lead advanced problem solving efforts and develop the capability within the broader team to do so.
    • Supports the work environment with good morale and a strong work ethic.
    • Line Management of the Greenbelts within European and North American locations.

     

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in either Science, Business, IT or equivalent
    • Extensive process re-engineering experience
    • IT systems capability - either as a design, architecture or implementation
    • Stakeholder management and engagement
    • Must be certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
    • Pharmaceutical / Life sciences experience would be advantageous.
    • A broad experience of leading transformation / process improvements within a Technology and/or Pharmaceutical domain.
    • Must have at least three years’ experience of business transformation where performance improvement is a business priority.
    • With a strong leadership ability and the desire to drive/lead projects through to completion.
    • Must have good stakeholder and change management skills, capable of building a change management strategy to ensure support and buy-in for improvement projects.
    • Skilled in verbal and written communication and able to inform, influence and persuade at a senior level within the organization.
    • Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, and the ability to drive and motivate teams including Senior Stakeholders.
    • Must be a team oriented person with a “can do” attitude.
