    COVANCE is a leading global drug development services company and we provide support to the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries. 

     

    We are recruiting for our Early Development team and are currently seeking to hire a Senior Process Improvement Consultant to drive the business transformation.

     

    We are looking for a process improvement professional with extensive experience in facilitating and driving large scale cross-functional process change efforts utilizing Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies. Fully trained and experienced with the Six Sigma Methodology; responsible for leading change and improvements through the application of Six Sigma. Responsibilities include helping to define and drive the Six Sigma strategy across different business units and support functions, training employees on the Six Sigma methodology, coaching and mentoring Green Belts. This person would be responsible for leading and driving efforts around specific initiatives to help build the infrastructure necessary to drive our developing process culture efforts. Responsibilities include helping to define, set, and drive the process improvement and Six Sigma strategy with Customers and with other Covance Businesses as well as to build Process Measurements around Cost, Quality, and Delivery for all key processes in each Business Unit.

     

    This is a full time position, based either in Harrogate or York, North Yorkshire, UK, in Madison, WI or in Indianapolis, IN, USA office.

     

    About the Job

    Within this position, your duties will include:

    • Lead training efforts for Green Belt’s in the Six Sigma methodology.
    • Manages large scale cross-functional/cross site process improvement projects
    • Leads and instructs process improvement teams, directs timely completion of projects that support critical goals and customer satisfaction requirements, and serves as the departmental point of contact for specific project initiatives and best practices.
    • Mentors, coaches and challenges process owners and project champions in the use of Six Sigma statistical tools, approaches and techniques to create process management and measurement systems and develop a Covance Six Sigma mindset at the department or process level.
    • Develops and communicates business cases to support recommendations for change to current business practices and processes, and develops controls to monitor the progress associated with implementation of recommended changes.
    • Leads overall process improvement efforts by driving related strategic initiatives that contribute to a more data and process driven culture.
    • Proactively work with Six Sigma Champions, business leaders, and Six Sigma team to identify strategic opportunities to improve overall effectiveness.
    • Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams in the development of process models and associated process measures.
    • Builds strategic relationship and shares best practices in regards to Six Sigma and process improvement in general across Covance.
    • Leads and supports key relationships with key customers around Six Sigma for the purposes of best practice sharing and joint projects.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve initiative goals.
    • Line Management of the Greenbelts/Process improvement individuals within European and North American locations.

    What we’re looking for

    To be successful in this position, you will need to hold a Bachelor’s Degree in either Science, Business, IT or equivalent plus some years of business experience;(relevant experience may be substituted for education).

     

    Additionally, you will need to demonstrate:

     

    • Prior management experience
    • Extensive process re-engineering experience
    • Strong facilitation skills, as demonstrated with various levels in an organization
    • Strong technical skills as applied to obtaining and analyzing business measures
    • Leadership and communication skills must be well-developed.
    • Project management skills, including an ability to plan and execute projects that meet cost, resource and outcome expectations; manage complex and/or competing priorities effectively; and meet commitments in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Must have good stakeholder and change management skills, capable of building a change management strategy to ensure support and buy-in for improvement projects.
    • With a strong leadership ability and the desire to drive/lead projects through to completion.
    • Skilled in verbal and written communication and able to inform, influence and persuade at a senior level within the organization.
    • Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, and the ability to drive and motivate teams including Senior Stakeholders.
    • Must be a team oriented person with a “can do” attitude.
    • Budget management and capital investment submission experience
    • Certification in Project Management and Process Excellence (Black Belt) required.

    Education / Qualifications

    • University degrees, Certification in Project Management and Process Excellence (Black Belt) required.

     

     

    Experience

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in either Science, Business, IT or equivalent
    • Extensive process re-engineering experience
    • Stakeholder management and engagement
    • Must be certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
    • Pharmaceutical / Life sciences experience would be advantageous.
    • A broad experience of leading transformation / process improvements within a Technology and/or Pharmaceutical domain.
    • Must have at least three years’ experience of business transformation where performance improvement is a business priority.
    • With a strong leadership ability and the desire to drive/lead projects through to completion.
    • Must have good stakeholder and change management skills, capable of building a change management strategy to ensure support and buy-in for improvement projects.
    • Skilled in verbal and written communication and able to inform, influence and persuade at a senior level within the organization.
    • Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, and the ability to drive and motivate teams including Senior Stakeholders.
