    We're currently recruiting for a Operational Scientist at our site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. 


    As an Operational Scientist, you will provide assistance and support in the performing of all aspects of Animal House studies. Duties include

    • Routine procedures associated with the day to day management of studies run within animal house operations or specific skills, collection/recording of scientific data and conducting routine licenced procedures under UK legislation, coordination and planning of teams.
    • Mentoring of new staff and SME for study set up, protocol reviews, QC checks, Pristima and Welfare Notification Forms, GLP and ASPA.

    About You

     

    • Proficiency in both Maths and English; gained through either academic study or professional work experience.
    • Educational standard may include an Institute of Animal Technology qualification, a relevant BTEC National/Higher National Diploma or relevant degree.
    • You will be expected to have membership of the Institute of Animal Technology (MIAT).
    • Be a registered animal technician (RAnTech)
    • Hold a Home Office Personal Licence.
    • Demonstrated excellent attitude towards work
    • Trained in basic licenced procedures (hold HO Licence)
    • Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Ability to utilise word-processing software, databases, spreadsheet and specialised software.
    • Be an experienced licencee and hold relevant qualifications.
    • The ability to work within a team.
    • The ability to meet tight deadlines

    Education / Qualifications

    • Proficiency in both Maths and English; gained through either academic study or professional work experience.
    • Educational standard may include an Institute of Animal Technology qualification, a relevant BTEC National/Higher National Diploma or relevant degree.
    • The post holder will be expected to have membership of the Institute of Animal Technology (MIAT).
    • The post holder will be expected to be a registered animal technician (RAnTech)
    • The post holder will have successfully gained a Home Office Personal License.
    • The post holder may have completed a Covance pre-leadership development training course.
    • It is required that the Post Holder will actively manage his or her own continued professional and career development.
    • The post holder will have completed Train The Trainer course.
    • The post holder is expected to be cross trained in the basic licenced procedures, and to have at least a minimum of 9 years experience performing licenced procedures, including at least 6 years running studies as the responsible technician (named on the protocol to run the study).

    Experience

    • Demonstrated excellent attitude towards work
    • Trained in basic licenced procedures (hold HO Licence) across Animal House Operations
    • Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Ability to utilise word-processing software, databases, spreadsheet and specialised software.
    • Be a Subject Matter Expert/point of contact in the field of GLP, ASPA, Pristima, Data production and checking including QC checks and SEND.
    • The post holder would be expected to have at least nine years experience working as a licencee and hold relevant qualifications.
    • The ability to work within a team.
    • The ability to meet tight deadlines
    • Fully conversant with the Operational Associate and a key trainer in core licenced procedures across AHO as laid out on the skill matrix.
