We are recruiting for our Global Laboratory team in Geneva and are currently seeking to hire a senior scientist to help support the team as they continue to grow global flow cytometry group. This is a permanent, full time position, based in our Geneva office.

 

About the Job

In this role, you will participate in scientific activities and initiatives in support of global Flow Cytometry operations. You will be responsible for client scientific & technical interactions. You will provide expertise in Flow Cytometry and participates in the development of new ventures in that scientific area for Covance Global Laboratory Operations

 

Within this position, your duties will also include:

  • Leadership role in establishing the scientific agenda related to flow cytometry. This includes, but is not limited to, assay development, strategies for standardization and monitoring
  • Contributes to long-term planning and technical policies of the department
  • Ensures the effective scientific performance of assays through regular monitoring and evaluation of the assays.
  • Interacts with clients and prospective clients to discuss technical/scientific issues, ensure effective communication and maintain relationships.
  • Deliver presentations to clients regarding Covance CLS capabilities in flow cytometry
  • Mentor and provide consultation to scientific and operational staff on technical issues
  • Assists operational leaders with converting scientific theory into laboratory operational practices/capabilities
  • Collaborates with operational leaders to evaluate and assess new technology and new assay capabilities
  • May provide technical training for scientific and operational staff
  • Provides technical/scientific consultation to departments outside the lab (i.e., Project Management) to assist with client issues and problem solving
  • Effectively manages scientific vendor relationships to troubleshoot issues and improve capabilities
  • Leads and sponsors major client visits
  • Assists in marketing new capabilities
  • Regularly reads literature related to scientific area of expertise to remain current in knowledge
  • Attend meetings, conferences, symposia, and seminars to keep informed of scientific advances in flow cytometry.
  • May involve travel to other Covance CLS locations

 

About You

  • To be successful in this position, you will need to be educated to D. in discipline relevant to Flow Cytometry (Immunology, Virology, Oncology). Additionally, you will need to demonstrate:
  • experience in Flow Cytometry
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports.
  • Proven track record of Flow cytometry method development.
  • Skilled in performing scientific presentations and preparing scientific publications.
  • Knowledge of flow cytometry software packaged, system software, Microsoft applications, and laboratory statistics, required. Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, system software, Microsoft applications, and laboratory statistics.
  • Effective communication skills with technical staff, business development staff, peers and clients.
  • Attention to detail and interpretation of scientific data.
  • Demonstrated problem prevention, detection and resolution
  • Board certification in scientific area of expertise would be a plus

Education / Qualifications

Required:Ph.D. in scientific area of expertise.

Preferred: Board certification in scientific area of expertise.

Fluency in English.

 

Experience

Minimum Required:

1-2 years post-doctoral experience within scientific area of expertise. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements above.

• Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports.

• Proven track record of method development.

• Experience performing scientific presentations and preparing scientific publications.

• Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, system software, Microsoft applications, and laboratory statistics.
